The Circular Tower is a laboratory for sustainable construction. What is more sustainable: local, renewable materials such as regional wood or reused, durable components that can be reused without degradation? Is it even possible to conceive a completely circular building, given its impact on the natural environment? The Circular Tower aims to help answer these questions. It enables laboratory-like testing and exploration of ideas that have so far received too little space in the everyday life of a company, a research institute, or a socially oriented organization. The project sponsor is the TecLab in Burgdorf. The TecLab, a collaboration between the Bern University of Applied Sciences, the Bern Technical School, and other partners from business, education, and politics, is committed to a sustainable future. At the Burgdorf site, the Circular Tower is part of a new center for the promotion of STEM careers and sustainable business.
